BOROUGH PRESIDENT GIBSON ANNOUNCES WINNER OF BRONX WEEK PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD & HOSTS SPONSORS APPRECIATION EVENT

News24USA.Com Desk, New York – On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson, in partnership with the Bronx Tourism Council, the Bronx Economic Development Corporation (BXEDC), and the Bronx Chamber of Commerce, hosted the Bronx Week 2026 Sponsorship Appreciation Event at Pregones Theatre in the South Bronx, recognizing the sponsors, community partners, and community stakeholders whose continued support helps make Bronx Week possible each year.
The evening was emceed by BronxNet’s Gary Axelbank, journalist and 2025 Bronx Walk of Fame People’s Choice Award inductee. Welcome remarks were delivered by Rosalba Rolon, Artistic Director of Pregones Theater. Additional remarks were delivered throughout the evening by Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson, Winston Peters, President of the Bronx Economic Development Corporation, and Julius Drake, Director of Development for the Bronx Tourism Council, who also delivered the evening’s closing remarks and sponsor acknowledgments.
Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson provided an overview of Bronx Week 2026 and re-announced this year’s Bronx Walk of Fame inductees: actor and choreographer Darrin Dewitt Henson, journalist Darlene P. Rodriguez, music and culture executive Lenny Santiago, and entertainer and influencer Roberto “Fanum” Escanio.
During the program, Jaime “Jimmy” Rodriguez Jr., Bronx-native Restaurateur with over 40 years of experience in Culinary Arts and owner of SoBro Garden, was announced as the winner of the 2026 Bronx Walk of Fame People’s Choice Award in the Culinary Arts category. The evening also featured recognition of this year’s Key to the Borough recipient, former New York State Attorney General and Bronx Borough President, the Honorable Robert Abrams, and the announcement of the 2026 Tourism Award honorees, the Bronx Children’s Museum and Pregones Theatre.
