News24USA.Com Desk, New York — On a wonderful autumn afternoon, the Bangladeshi American diaspora gathered in an open house setting in Clear Lake, Houston, USA, for the historic first pre-order book tour event of Dr. Mostofa Sarwar’s critically acclaimed, deeply moving poetry collection, Sunflower Wounds.

Organized by Mrs. Soheni Tanzeema, a high executive of a French multinational company, and Dr. Faruq Akbar, a senior scientist and geophysicist, the event was a resounding success. Delectable refreshments were served, and dedicated volunteers Dr. Syeda Sarwar, MD, Shaina, Raisa, and Toba ensured a warm, seamless experience. Reflecting overwhelming community enthusiasm, forty pre-orders were placed during the gathering, set for delivery upon the book’s official publication on March 16, 2027, by the University of New Orleans Press, with global distribution managed by Johns Hopkins University Press’s HFS Books.

A Powerful Sales Narrative: Witnessing Global War Through Poetry
Sunflower Wounds has struck a profound chord internationally, capturing how modern atrocities are mediated through livestreams and digital feeds. As a survivor of the 1971 Bangladesh genocide, Dr. Sarwar views contemporary warfare—from Ukraine to Vietnam—as a tragic continuum. This resonance has propelled the book into a rare pre-release milestone, with pre-orders opening globally across six continents (North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia) and 33 countries—including the USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Denmark, Turkey, Romania, Lithuania, India, Singapore, Taiwan, UAE, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Egypt, and South Africa—months ahead of its release.

Early Critical Acclaim: A BookLife “Editor’s Pick”
Publishers Weekly’s BookLife awarded the collection an “Editor’s Pick”, praising it as “Charged, pained, gorgeous, and potent.” The review notes that Sarwar’s poems “make a case […] for ‘Global-Echo Document Poetry,’ exposing universal mechanisms of imperial violence while translating the digital witness of turmoil into a deeply human wound.” Critics and academic leaders alike have lauded the volume as a masterpiece of empathy, resilience, and transcendent hope.
